(This is one of my favorite Visayan religious songs I learned as a child. I'm still researching the name of the composer for due citation. The English text that follows is my translation.)
Pagkadaghan sa nahigmata
Nga nangandoy pang matulog
Kay mas tam-is ang magdamgo
Sa mga dili tinuod
Ang saksi sa kamatuuran
Mopiyong lang kasagaran
Ug mag-antus lang
Nga pasipad-an
Ang gugma ug kaangayan
Buta! Buta kita sa pagpakabana
Buta kita sa luha
Ug walay pulos
Ang hayag sa atong mga mata
Kon sa kasingkasing
Magpabilin tang buta!
Not a few wake up from their sleep
But still yearn to be lulled back to slumber
For it is sweeter to dream dreams
Or make-believes and untruths
There are witnesses to the truth
Who would rather close their eyes shut
And meekly suffer the abuses
Against love, justice and fairness
Blind! we're blind to our brethren's cares
We are blind to their tears
And the sight of our eyes
Is but useless and worthless
If in our heart of hearts
We remain, woefully, blind.
