Rue Trousseau

Today
I thought about Rue Trousseau
And my heart hummed
As it did when my flippant feet
Traipsed its fabled cobblestones
O how my spirit was a tad lighter
My soul filled with glee
The Frenchman at the sidewalk cafe
Sipping his martini, smiled
He must have sensed the mirth
And the extra spring in my steps
O I love it there, I could be Pierre
I could start anew
On that autumn afternoon
On Rue Trousseau.

Right now it's cold outside, the air's in a frenzy
A contrast of the ambient mood
and the mad rush dash down in the main street
Life's an unstable state of motion and inertia
Yikes!
I yearn for a balmy lazy summer afternoon
To read a Crichton novel under the pergola.
